Week 3: More Censorship

20 May 2021

Welcome to Week 3 of 21 Weeks of Resistance, keeping the Foundry Site in the public eye.

We are sorry to report that, despite your efforts and the efforts of our MPP Suze Morrison, the protest art on the Foundry hoardings continues to be censored — now by order of Infrastructure Ontario.

Infrastructure Ontario has ordered Quantum Murray to replace all the plywood from the south side of the building with fresh, blank plywood.

They also are continuing to repaint the north and west side plywood hoardings black; just this morning they erased white "SAVE THE FOUNDRY" stencils that sprang up this week.

Your task this week is again to draw attention to this blatant censorship. Please use social media or email to express your opinion on this disrespect for the community's voice.

If you are in the neighbourhood please come and take pictures, posting them with the #savethefoundry tag.

Do not harass or impede the workers in any way! They are not the enemy here; they are just doing their jobs.

Direct your message (on social media or by email) to Doug Ford and his ministers Steve Clark (Municipal Affairs and Housing) and Laurie Scott (Infrastructure). Please also tag in the local representatives listed below.

Oh, and do please tag us or bcc us at [email protected]!

All communications will be more powerful with visuals! Ideally, if you're in the neighbourhood take a stroll down and document something that stands out for you.

Or follow either of these links to find images you can use to reinforce your message.
